The nozzle won't fit my car (Tesco Momentum)
Discussion
I went to fill up with Tesco Momentum today and I couldn't - the nozzle was just too big to fit the filler neck of the car and open up the little sprung cover.
I checked the pump & it said "suitable for all unleaded cars", which mine is.
I was rather puzzled & disappointed as I think my car would benefit from it.
Any ideas why the nozzle is so large it won't fit my car?

It was diesel and your eyes need checked
The pump line was green the same as unleaded and the handle had "Momentum" in green too but maybe it was Diesel then. They really should be clearer if it was Momentum Diesel as it did look just like it was a petrol pump.
I'll look around for the correct petrol one next time.
Thanks for the clarification.
It said "Momentum99" btw.
That's definitely diesel is it?

There is one type of petrol nozzle that has an extra ring on the end.
It was always very tight to get into my S2000 even though it was definitely petrol.
This was a larger diameter nozzle than 95RON pumps have; I looked at them side by side and it was definitely bigger. It was always very tight to get into my S2000 even though it was definitely petrol.
I guess despite the green hose and saying "Momentum99" on the pump handle it must have been diesel.
Uhhm, looks like it was petrol then.
I was confused by it as there were the 3 nozzles expected.
The first was black and said diesel, the second was marked as Momentum99 and the third said unleaded.
The tip of the nozzle was too large in diameter to push the flap in the filler neck aside and insert fully. I might have a go at delivering a bit of fuel next time and see if the force of the fuel will push the flap aside. I'll have to line the nozzle up carefully though as it wouldn't go in at all.
Unless it was just that pump of course.

Please don't do this.I was confused by it as there were the 3 nozzles expected.

The worst that'll happen is the side of the car gets a drop of petrol down it.
I'll stand to one side

Just to clarify; the nozzle tip just fitted into the outer ring of the filler neck but would not enter the filler neck or pass the flap.
I've never had any fuel pump issues, anywhere, ever, with any other brand of fuel in any other car and I've been driving for 27 years.

This has happened to me quite a few times at Tesco - Pitsea in Essex. To the point that I just won't go there anymore.
In each instance the end of the nozzle was out of shape and wouldn't go through the inner metal flap on my Z4Ms fuel filler.
The first time it happened I tried three different pumps before giving up.
