The reason I ask is that I've got a Jaguar xkr.
It's a lovely car but all the owners I've met have been at least in their late 50s.
When I briefly tried to sell it, all 3 viewings were by retired gentleman.
Plenty of women admire it but they're all over 60!
I'm getting on in years but I'm still a fairly youthful looking ( or so I like to think) 45 yr old.
I've begun to think I'm at least 10 years to young for this car.
Am I right and are there any other cars whose image is suited to a particular age bracket?

Despite many people thinking a VW van makes them look young, cool and hip, we've only met one sub 40 year old couple also with a California!

And our 335d is very specifically old man SE spec on 17s because I love subtle but nippy cars.

I'm 38, the wife is 35.

Cougar magnet cool

The XKR is a great looking car, I'd seriously consider one and I'm 27. Having said that, it definitely does seem to attract a certain age of gentleman.

Does a 6 series have the same age demographic?

Interesting.

Probably quite easy to work out if you're too old for a specific car.

Otherwise, it's really a matter of opinion.

I'm 23.

The vw bora suits me about right

The chimaera didn't suit my age at all.

The rover 75 was off the scale.

Possibly few in the younger age group can afford your car?

I'm getting ready to duck!

2005 Cadillac Escalade and I'm 25.

Buy what you want not what you think everyone else thinks you should be driving.

You can pick a xkr or xk8 up now from around £5k!
Insurance can be pricy but you can get it insured as a classic.
Not that expensive anymore smile

I'm 15 so I'm probably the right age for the daily hack - a Sinclair C5. The Jag - almost certainly not though mates do think of it as being quite cool.

Beaten to it by Stedman...

First Volvo S70 T5 at 19, still in a Volvo now. No need to change really...

A middle aged bloke would look odd in a Corsa as would a teenager in Toyota Corolla IMO!

I am 36..current cars

-Corrado VR6..probably about the right age. Back in the day I think the average buyer would have been mid to late 20s. Owners Club now seems to be mainly late 30s/40s

-Subaru Forester XT..seem to be mainly middle aged chaps in Barbour drive these

-RR TDV8..all demographics. In standard factory Buck Blue Paint/Tan Leather(subtle) spec like mine maybe a tad middle aged. At the other end of the spectrum a white Project Kahn with DRLs and 22" rims would most likely be a vacuous 20 year old reality TV cretin.

-Saab 93 Aero Convertible..well, my Dad also has one in his garage so that probably says it all (he is a very beige 63 year old University Prof!)
