Works Car park issue
Discussion
I'm sure this is an issue that has been raised before, however I throw it out to the PH masses. WWPHD (What Would Pistonheads Do).
I have already contemplated cans of Redbull, frozen sausages and smashing her back doors in. Unfortunately she is a 2/10 at best and would be more torture for me to smash her doors in.
It is the usual issue, ignorant parking in the works car park! Now the spaces are small, I appreciate that, but if everyone just parked in the middle of their space we would be fine.
I came into work yesterday at 8:50, perfect timing really to be at my desk for 9:00. I found the person in the space next to me was parked part in my space (allocated, booked spaces). Tne whole right hand side was in my space, both right wheels were over the line. Luckily the girl on the other side, who I have seen a few tiems, was parked perfectly considerately.
The one parked over the space works a few rows of desks up from me. I am driving a hired E class at the moment, so it's a bit of a boat and she doesn't recognise the car as me.
Anyway, I spent 15 minutes trying to find an angle or way to park so we could all squeeze in and out of our cars. To no avail, every time it was me that couldn't get out the car or I was blocking the girl who was parked correctly in aswell.
After 15 minutes I decided, stuff this, I'm late, so parked up central in my space, nose in, so that girl on my left had 2" between her drivers door and my passanger side and I got out the other side with the normal ammount of space between me and the other car.
I knew this would be an issue for the person blocked in, however I took the stance that I shouldn't have to give up my space becuase some idiots can't park their car. The nearest non allocated spaces area 20 minute walk away in a housing estate. She had already made me late for work while I tried to accomodate us all.
I returned to my car last night to this note:
"WHAT KIND OF PARKING IS THIS!
I CAN'T EVEN GET INTO THE DRIVING SEAT!
DID YOU NOT NOTICE THAT DUE TO THE FACT THE PERSON PARKED OVER THE LINE IN SPACE 6 THAT THIS KNOCKED EVERYONE ELSE OUT OF THEIR SPACE. HAVE A BLOODY LOOK AND THINK NEXT TIME"
Now this made me rather pissed off. Yes I was fully aware that she was blocked in. However Iw as left with the choice of block her in and use my space, well within the lines and perfectly within my rights to do so. Or I was to give up my space becuase of someone else's inconsiderate parking and then be a furhter 20 minutes late for work because of them.
I came to work this morning and ahve left a note reading:
"I call it parking within the lines of my space which I have been allocated. My car was perfectly within the lines, it was your car encroaching on my space. I did "bloody look and think".
I looked and saw you taking up my space and thought what an inconsiderate a
hole. So after trying to find a way to park for 15 minutes where we could all get in and out our cars, unfortunately you left me no option but to park in the manner I did since it is impossible to get out of my car with the selfish way in which you have abandoned your car. Due to your selfish and ignorant actions I was late for work and refuse to either give up my space and be a further 20 minutes late or to block in the car on the other side of the who had parked perfectly reasonably.
Befoe you start leaving snippy notes have A LOOK AND THINK about your own parking. Had you reversed in and put your passenger side close to my space we would have both been able to get in and out of our cars no problem and the issue casued by cars further down the row would be fixed. Due to your selfish, self centred actions and expecting me to leave space for your door IN MY SPACE you have shown no regard for me having to park here, so I took no regard for you and chose to park in the middle of my allocated space.
I have passed on your details and the details of all the cars parked out with their allocated space to the parking attendant as well as making a formal complaint about yourself and your manner towards me as I do not expect to recieve notes complaining that I have used my space correctly for someone who has parked IN MY SPACE.
If you feel the need to discuss the matter further you can contact me on xxxx xxx xxxx or xxxxxxxxxxx@xxxxxxx.co.uk and I would be happy to explain my popint of view again. I however do not feel there is any more to add to this. You suffered the consequences of your own selfish actions and are trying to blame me for the outcome. You chose in what way to position your car in your space and you have dealt with the consequences. Take a look at your own actions before blaming others around you. You parked like an asshole and it backfired on you. What would you have done if I was parked there before you arrived?"
I know it is a very long note, probably quite arsey but I was really pissed off. I will find it funny tomorrow when she finds out it is me and we shall see if she says anything to me. She is one of the office b
hes so I'm sure she'll have plenty to say to everyone except me.
I just wanted the PH opinion on how it was handled.
I know I know, not enough swearing for a rant and a very tame way of handling it. Part of me wanted to park my car diagonally over the 2 spaces this morning when I turned up an hour early and to leave a note on it saying "the person next to me was parked squint so had to use your space too". However I thoguht better of it. Probably winds these people up more by me handling it maturely.
The brilliant thing was, the note was written on the back on a Krisy Kreme receipt for 24 donuts. That will give you and idea of the caliber of person she is and why she needs so much space to get in and out of her car.

Couldn't you just have walked over when you blocked her in and explained to her that you did because she parks inconsiderably? What am I missing?
Yes. The normal human way to deal with this would have been to go to her desk and explain what you've done and ask her to call you when she's leaving so you can move your car and she can get in. Then ask if she wouldn't mind staying within the lines next time, and if it's a result of people further up the line then maybe talk to them too/or have an office wide email sent to everyone (no names) reiterating the parking problems and asking people to stay between the lines.Amicably resolved.
On the other hand, the OP asked WWPHD, and I think he did the appropriate thing: "Two wrongs make a right" followed by a ranty (rather than conciliatory) message about entitlement left in the form of a spineless note. And then post it online, natch. Yes OP, you've really nailed WWPHD. Congrats.
Everyone really stuggles parking at the office I work at, have about 100 spaces for 150+ cars, always lorries getting blocked due to people parking on the road.
Luckily, I am normally within the first 5 people in at half 6/6.45 so can park right out the way, right over too to allow plenty of room next to me. Had the same spot for nearly 2 years now.
Have seen plenty of corkers like yours though, however here you let reception now and they send out a building wide email naming and shaming the driver!
