cheap rx8, good or bad idea?

Hi, I'm looking towards changing my e46 316 for something a bit different. Been looking at rx8s as they seem good value for what they are (around the 2k mark). I know there are issues with the engines and aren't too good on fuel. However, I only use my car at weekends and on the odd night as I use the train for work, so it would be more of a toy than anything else. I also do all my own maintenance and would like to think that I could do any necessary work should it be needed (apart from a rebuild). So, do you reckon it would be a good option, or just a bad idea? Cheers.

Sounds like an RX8 would be perfect for you if you're a maintenance type of guy. Look after the car and it will look after you!

They are a great drivers car and can go from drifting for laughs to B road time attack!
