I have a steering wheel & airbag on the bay of fleas at the moment - collect only. A number of prospective bidders have asked if I would post them. I thought with the airbag being an explosive Royal Mail wouldn't accept it. Any comments please?

^^^^ This.

I worked for a car manufacturer and it took me 3 days to find a courier that would take it and even then it had to be under certain conditions and packaging etc.

They would not return a used one though.

So you don't mind one sitting in front of your face all day, but put it in a cardboard box and it suddenly becomes a bomb?

Oh and laugh at "not sure if SRS"

Not quite. Put it in a cardboard box and it suddenly becomes unidentifiable.
Steering wheels have a little warning symbol on them so you know it's in there.

They must be safe if packed properly other wise how would it be safe for us all to drive cars full of them?

There is no harm in posting an air bag.

It is not a dangerous item at all once it is out of the car and disconnected from the wiring; I have seen them thrown about, dropped, even frisbee'd across the yard.

What, exactly, makes you think it could go off or otherwise cause harm once it is in the postal system?

I'd have just posted it without even thinking about it.

I missed a wink off my first post.

BUT. As long as it is packaged correctly there should be no issue. An airbag needs an electrical charge, so as long as it is fully insulated there is no more chance of it accidentally going off in a box than whilst on the steering wheel....all in theory of course.

Royal mail won't accept it though...
