I do a hell of a lot of motorway trips at the moment and have always noticed one car is worse than all others for hogging the middle lane.

Mazda 6.

They seem to dawdle about in their own world. Has anyone else noticed this and just how frequently it turns out to be a Mazda 6?

I can't see any particular correlation with car make.

Just tends to be idiots.

As my old flatmate used to say:

"I don't discriminate. Everyone's a c@&!"

There is no dawdling where I am concerned I will have you know wink

Mazda 6's are forever catching my attention for doing this.

Maybe you have a stalker who's not very good at being inconspicuous. He passes you when there are no junctions coming up and then stays in the middle lane. I'd be scared if I were you.

I reckon the middle lane T&*(S are victims of being too comfortable, they buy a point and steer type car as a rule, meaning no concentration is required, the arm is glued to the rest, the sat nav is located so it obscures a good part of their vision, the cruise control and radar assist are both on, so there is nothing for the mind to do so they switch off !

National Express coaches.

Once out in the middle they'll NEVER shift over, unless traffic slows in which case they'll go left then literally barge their way back to the middle. They're a total pain in the arse.

Not personally, though I suspect there is something like Confirmation bias working - you see a couple of Mazda 6s hogging the middle lane, then the next one you seen reinforces it - even if you have passed a dozen other cars of different make(s) doing the same.

It might also be your route is used at the same time by a lot of people who have a company car scheme where Mazda 6 was a good option - they used to be more common models in car-park where I worked for this reason (well above percentage what you'd see typically on road)

Anyone that doubts me have a good look out for it.

I travel from home, Cheshire/South Manchester to Glasgow twice a week and southwest at least once.

They are out there biggrin
