Blimey.

I do find it odd that there is so little information around these collisions, usually when you read about accidents the press are told 'person A pulled out infront of person B....'

Apart from that chap on Whitechapel road cycling the wrong way on a one way street I don't remember any details being released about the other collisions?
There would need to be an official investigation into the collision and the press wouldn't normally comment until after that was taken place, by which time it's no longer a news item. If it makes court we'll hear about it, but otherwise we won't.

Is it because a lot more are riding bicycles?

Even so, its a very high mortality rate.

Do we really need another thread? Dead pedestrians don't even get one between them.

Yes and no. Its a lot in a short space of time, but the number of fatalities compared with the number of journies have been steadily falling. This year the number is 14, same as last year.

Is this higher or lower than we would expect statistically given the number of cyclists, and the time period in London?

When I cycled in London there did seem to be some 'militant' cyclists that didn't realise that being right doesn't matter around a bus or a lorry sometimes, I'm sure they got home minutes earlier (most of the time frown )

Good idea to add a date to these rather saying another another otherwise is this another on top of the another one of today or the same one that is another

There does seem to be quite a push to 'make the most' of these cycling deaths. The sick, sad whiff of politics, I suppose.

How about just the one thread for this one issue?
