Other than Audis, and SUVs, what used cars are available with 4wd - 5-10k, less than 70k, diesel or petrol. Cheers!

Other than VAG, possibly look at Subaru and Volvo.

Looking at Subarus will come up with a few results for you I'd imagine, Volvo too - but most of those tend to be high milers.

Subaru's mainly, but also things like the Skoda Octavia Scout (or similar) in fact a few Skoda's. Various Volvos, couple of odd-ball Suzuki and Nissan models. Someone at work has a Seat Leon (I think but all recent Seats look exactly the same to me) with 4 wheel drive.

You could buy a brand new Suzuki Swift with awd for that, I think. It won't be fast though.

You really need to narrow your search a bit.

You'll easily score a V70 AWD with sub 70k for that. OH has one, and apart from being a bit boaty in the suspension dept I can't fault it. It's comfier than sitting in a cloud.

10K would net you the mintiest of blobeye STIs, which is the one you want.

Do you really want an econobox, when you can have "hundred, 4 left, into jump..." hehe

Petrol there are plenty. Subaru make the best ones (IMHO).

Diesel - Octavia, Superb, Golf, Passat, Seat Altea. Volvo XC70 (+V70?)

What is a good reason to buy one over any of the other cars in the thread?

I think the usual pistonheads answer to four wheel drive and reasonable price is Subaru Forester Turbo. Possibly.
Also I like the Mazdaspeed6 mps. It's like an Impreza Sti that went to public school and studied Classical art. Possibly.

Doesn't work though. I just did as above but changed body type to estate and price between 5k and 10k. Two 4x4 Subarus on the first page.

Changed body type to 4x4 and it's all actual off roader styles, such as Land Rovers, Vitara's and Rav 4's.

Not searching by drivetrain, it's body type as it says in the description. PH allows searching by drivetrain though.

the subarus will have been the estate versions though as thats what you asked for
you then search for 4x4 and it only brings up land rovers , vitara,s etc

I dont get your point, what do you expect it to return when you search 4x4?

right here you go, put the bodystyle to 4x4 then go to make and it will show you all manufacturers of 4x4 for sale, if your looking for a car type 4x4 then you obviously ignore land rover and click on the likes of Jaguar or Skoda, it does work
