I guess the turbo would negate that a bit with tuning opportunities - just a concept at the moment and a n/a 150bhp 1.6 was also hinted at

Oh yes, reminded me of the old Mazda RX2 and Celica notchback TA22 shapes as well as the obvious Nissan/Datsun cues

Oh God, please bring this out Nissan! Make in these exact colours and I'll have one. I don't care if it's only got 150bhp, just make sure it's light and sounds like an old MK1 Ford Escort and you've got at least 1 sale. Possibly the only sale but please don't let that put you off. Oh and if you can keep it under £15k that would be great.

Edit: Loving the shooting brake too, slightly prefer the rear styling of the Subaru to the Toyota.
