I've been thinking of selling my GTR next year but the pressure is put on me by the missus (and in laws...) to sell it ASAP to get some cash in the bank. To me it's just a shame as I've only got four new tyres and a full service a month ago...

Anyway, what car should I go for next? Again, I've been pressured to get an old banger to maximise cash return. Just don't understand why the sudden pressure but that's a question for another day...

Right, below are my criteria in order of importance. Hopefully someone can give some good suggestions. Budget wise I'm looking at £15,000 max.

1) Cheap to run and maintain
2) As new as possible to hopefully get some remaining warranty
3) Comfortable interior - would prefer gadgets and good sound system. If I sacrifice performance I would at least hope that the interior is a nice place to sit in.

That's about it really. Can't expect too much in the performance department as I have to be realistic with my budget.

Feeling really down as I'm writing this as my car is my P&J (don't have any other hobbies and vices) but a must is a must I guess...

Why the fk are the in laws getting involved? What business is it of theirs?

Your misses (I'm assuming wife due to in laws) can have a say I guess, but why is she wanting you to cash out?

She planning on getting knocked up 'by mistake'?!

I'd be ashamed to write what you've put. Like already suggested, grow a pair.

Compromise is the art in life if all other avenues are exhausted.

On a sliding scale... just ideas...

550i (warranty might be hard) but debadged looks sensible to inlaws - or an Alpina
S4 supercharged (ditto)
640d (diesel but good)

Well, if your 'old banger' budget is 15k, then scaling your fuel costs I'm going to go with 350Z or E46 M3 tongue out

Old banger and £15k?

Does not compute.

Look on the bright so - your missus will be buying new sofas, beds, curtains, dining table, outdoor furniture, lamps, rugs and cushions.

Lots and lots of cushions. Hope you like new furniture....

I won't offer any views on the appropriateness of the situation, but if you do need to downsize and can get away with only 2 seats, this is a rather good value 370Z..
