Engine oils - Red Line vs Castrol Edge vs Mobil 1 ESP
Discussion
Just out of curiosity, will either of the 2 offer any more protection/longevity etc than the other? I'd not really heard of Red Line oils before but browsing online they appear to have a good reputation. I've been using Castrol Edge for a while and it seems good, just curious really!
My last oil service was done by a BMW dealer who actually used Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 - any thoughts on this? I have 5W-30 Castrol Edge as top ups, but not sure what to get for the next change; or is a case of neither really offering much above the other?
Thanks
Ross

If it is red line's racing stuff it really is a superb oil. A lot of guys who's opinions I trust use it due to its stability up to and beyond 120C on track.
However. For what you want I genuinely have no idea if a proper ester synthetic is better over a long period of time for normal driving. I use Gulf Competition Ester racing stuff as it is good for extreme conditions seen on track. But I change mine every 6k or 6 months so for longevity I have no idea.
