I need new tyres on the 4x4, at the moment it has 235/65/17 fitted however all the tyre websites are coming up with 245/70/16, so which ones do i opt for or does it make no difference?

Even my wife could see why that won't work.

It makes a big difference. The 245/70/16s won't fit the wheels that are now on your vehicle - these are for 16 inch dia wheels and you have 17 inch dia wheels.

You're planning to replace the wheels?

I suspect the standard car has 16 inch wheels and yours has optional 17 inch ones.

Probably - manufacturers don't usually fit narrower tyres when fitting a larger dia wheel even if it would be OK. In your shoes I'd be reading the manual. What do you want? 16" tyres with wheels may be not much more than 17" tyres.

Are they for this:-
