Jaguar F-Type R: Time For Tea?

We've had the glitzy show reveal, now time for the lavish teaser vid

In one of the least surprising pieces of news from 2013, the Jaguar F-Type Coupe has been rather positively received on PH. After 331 votes, it's averaging 8.99 on the PH O'Meter. You want one, we want one, it appears most of the world wants one.

This latest video from Jaguar is only going to heighten the lust and longing for a hard-top F-Type. It features the V8 R flagship, naturally, some appropriately dramatic driving and plenty of lovely V8 rumble. Annoyingly, some of the sound is mismatched to the action (watch the few seconds from 0:54 for proof) but the message is clear; the V8 will make lots of noise and go exceedingly fast. As if anything else would ever happen.

As a stylised advertorial, there isn't really anything new to be learnt about the F-Type Coupe here. But then we know everything important, don't we? Cheaper than a 911, lighter than a Convertible (just) and better looking than just about any other car. This is simply Jaguar forcing the point home.

Despite the prices and mechanical specs being announced in LA, we don't yet have a launch date for the F-Type Coupe. There's only so long desire can be satisfied by arty vids after all; come on 2014!

It's certainly up there with Aston Martin's latest Vantage model.

When I heard the engine at the canary wharf motor show I knew it would appeal, now the car has aquired some practicality (ie: it can be used for a weekend away) it really appeals and it seems to carry a lot of class with it.

I seem to remember reading the exhaust has been engineered (on both 6 and 8 cylinder models) to give this crackling and popping sound. It's lovely but I am a tiny bit disappointed it doesn't spit flames.

Still 10 out of 10 though absolutely love it.

It seems the location is Trieste and its surroundings.

Yep....your right.

About as Indian as Force India. Or as Austrian as Red Bull F1..

British designed and built = British car.

Ever since Jaguar stopped making the S Type and started making cars that people want to buy they really have gone from strength to strength. The F Type is a real pinncale. God only knows what the replacement for the XKR will be like.
It would be so good if they just got on and stuck that V8 in the C-X75 and sold it as the XK. That really would be the icing on the cake.

I followed one yesterday up a slip road onto theA127 in Basildon, and gotta say it looked gorgeous and the sound of the crackling and popping exhaust was fantastic, as he floored it. (Couldn't keep with him as I'm running in a rebuilt engine you understand!)

I thought it was going to be hard to build a better looking car than the DB7 (has to be the Vantage with the decent wheels) but that shape is just stunning.

The noise though........smilesmilesmile

Would it be considered vulgar to say I've already drove it?
