Maybe not the best, but maybe best value?!

Not long ago I was at a car auction and a 1991 volvo 240 estate with 12 months MOT came up with no reserve. 1 owner since new and FSH , plus looked pretty tidy! (Came from a main dealer, unwanted trade in I guess). It went for just £160!

Surely 'shedding' doesn't get much better? Rwd and indestructible, sell in the spring to a banger racer or for scrap and you've probably seen your money back!

You do know that your not obliged to sell it for scrap/to a banger racer.

If the cars a genuinely nice example then either keep it - or try to sell through a Volvo forum or the like to someone whose into these cars.

My take - if shes good enough for the winter and still works in spring - then keep driving the damn thing - at least its different to most of tbe boring modern cars.

Just my opinion - would be a shame to see it go to scrap if its still working well

I completely agree,if I had space I would have been tempted! It was just a worse case scenario really that you could get something from it if it wouldn't sell or failed next mot miserably etc. FWIW it was put up for sale at a village garage and I have seen it around in what seems to be daily service. As you say though it would be nice if whoever owns it keeps it going smile

Blimey. That is cheap. If the mileage is moderately sensible it is the kind of thing a 240 enthusiast will pay £2k for. There would be a *lot* of profit in that for whoever bought it. Usually cars like that fetch serious money at auction.
