Going to change my daily driver in the new year and struggling for ideas, and fancied something different - maybe a bit left field. Currently have a chipped 330d Touring which I do like but my girlfriend is getting a 335d coupe so fancy trying something different. Criteria are - £10k max (preferably less!),estate or hatch, no less space than the 330d, 6 cylinder minimum, prefer diesel but no slugs. Like the idea of something Japanese for reliability but not essential. A Lexus estate with a v6 turbo diesel in it would be good but they don't do one! Imaginative suggestions welcomed

6-pot diesels means you're either going to have to get another 330d, or maybe a Jag?

Mondeo Titanium X is a nice motor these days and comes with sporty 4 pot diesel or the eco-boost petrols ..

Audi 3.0TDI? TBH the BMW is probably better (we have a 335d Touring!) but the 4WD of the Audi can be useful. They do hold silly money though.
Merc C320CDI Estate? Not sure what you get for your money but they look quite good.
Neither are as fun as the BMW but if the missus is getting a 335 Coupe, you might want something different.

Could you get away with a slightly mad hatch or does it need to be large? Slightly mad choice could be a C55 AMG estate but again, not sure about values - they are damn quick though!

"Sporty 4 pot diesel" is probably the most offensive use of the word "sporty" that I have ever heard. biggrin

Tee hee!

Maybe a 123d, 125d and/or Merc C250CDI are almost sporty four pots diesels but I agree. Our van has a bi-turbo 4 pot diesel with 180bhp. It's still horrid.
