Any tips please on finding good learner driver insurance (i.e. insurance that covers the learner to drive any car, rather than adding her to an existing policy) ? My girlfriend's daughter is starting driving next month, so we'll be looking to get her insured once her instructor thinks she's ready to practice.

I don't know about any car, but Provisional Marmalade covers a learner driver on an already-insured car, you may need to specify which car it is though (and it would be worth checking with the insurer of the main policy, make sure it doesn't cause any problems). iKube also have a product.

Never heard of an insurer who will cover a full driver on any vehicle let alone a learner although there are policies for business situations

It cost an extra £40 per month to have my 24 year old daughter on my policy

Mt daughter has never been with a driving instructor so just me (non ADI) with no dual controls and starting on an empty industrial area when quiet over a few weekends to get the basic controls then we went out onto the road

The advantage I have is that I was a LGV driving instructor and am still an advanced driving adviser
