Pure Driving Experiences: vote now!

Have your say in where to send Steve Sutcliffe for the final sponsored video from Dunlop

Dunlop's final Pure Driving Experiences video is near but in a twist on the format we're going to let you join the vote on where Steve Sutcliffe enjoys his final drive. In the first he drove a Mercedes C63 AMG Black Series up Hardknott Pass in the Lake District, a mismatch of car and road more than a few picked up on.

"Silly car for what is little more than a path!" said PHer Behemoth, in one typical comment.

Since then Steve's Dunlop-sponsored travels have taken him to the North York Moors in a Radical, the Stelvio Pass in a Nissan GT-R and more besides.

For the final instalment Steve will be reunited with the C63 Black. But where to take it? The choices are as follows:

The handling track
Longcross test track not far from PH Towers is a regular haunt of Sutcliffe and his Autocar colleagues so if there's anywhere he can really show off what the Black Series can do it'll be here. While probably annoying some of the golfers whose course the track borders.

The grand touring route
Matt recently enjoyed the roads near the RouteNapoleon in a Dream Drives feature. He enjoyed it in a Peugeot RCZ R but perhaps Sutcliffe would enjoy it more still in the AMG? Could cost a bit in fuel getting it there, mind.

The high-speed bowl
With a 'hands off' banked bowl and bucking bronco infield test track Millbrook proving ground is another venue Sutcliffe knows intimately. Chances to get the Black flat out and, just possibly, airborne abound.

Paris Dakar sounds about right to me. Circuits are a complete waste of time.

Bobbio....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobbio

to

Rapallo....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rapallo

On the SS45

Northern Italy, no caravans, no bikes, no local vans and lorries.....just bends!

Forget the so called 'classic' passes they're too over crowded.

I've driven this route and can honestly say it's the best road I have ever driven and I've driven a LOT of the classic routes all over Europe! smile

Get off the beaten track smile

High speed bowl???

Watch someone drive a car in a circle?

Fine when there's NASCAR racing but when there's only one car, there's not much to see, surely???

Route Napolean out of those selections, Old Military Road north out of Dundee across the Cairngorns if I had a free choice.

I agree that the destinations lack a certain 'sparkle'. Perhaps on his way to Longcross Mr Sutcliffe could take a "short" detour to Mold in N. Wales he could then take the A541 towards Wrexham, in the village he could take the A5104 towards Corwen and then the A5 to Druid followed by the A494 to Bala and the A4212 to Trawsfynydd then the A470 to Blaenau Ffestiniog continue on the A470 and pass though Betyws- y- Coed towards LLanrwst, take the A548 to Abergele and then the A55 to either Mold or Chester for a well earned sleep.
After that little detour the AMG should be well and truly 'tested'.
And lets face it if this is the last in the series why not fill your boots and go out with a bang.
ENJOY

Talking about 'pure driving experiences'. There isn't even a proper stick manual...

The standard fit Dunlops on the GT-R are very exciting in the rain/damp. This is not a good thing..

Given the three options and to ensure he does not fall aslepp, the Grande Route would be the best. He can then drive to Denmark, drop the keys off and take Easyjet home.

Non of the options! why not be different and put some studded tyres on it and try out ice driving in Norway or Sweden?

North Korea has the most suitable roads for the Black Series:

Virtually no traffic and the (thought) police drive little 1.5litres tubs. Plus if you don't like Steve it's likely he won't be coming back.....
