Hi all,

My Dad has voiced that he'd like a new toolbox for Christmas to replace the falling-apart model he's currently using.

Needs to be plastic (metal seems heavy to start with?) and pretty rugged. It'll be in the garage most of the time but also needs to be portable enough to lug into the boot on occasion.

Any recommendations or opinions appreciated!

Cheers guys! smile

what sort of tools?

I have a nice medium Dewalt (no trays) for my 18v stuff,

and another brand (smaller) with trays for auto biased hand tools.

Kind of makes a difference if the application is known.

I've got a couple of these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Stanley-195620-Galvanised-...

They're not bad - their light weight is offset by the fact that if you fill it with hammers it'll warp a bit so the catches need effort to line up. Tray is small and plasticy but enough to stop the little stuff ending up down at the bottom.

A lot of my stuff is in kits in their own cases -I've got a whole shelf of bits like this.

As above, knowing the application would be useful to further refine our suggestions.

I've got a couple of these

Which seem ok. I don't use them for anything strenuous. One stays in the house and the other is full of car cleaning stuff and gets carted outside every couple of weeks.
