It was hard to come up with a title for this thread.

Just wondering who can claim to have only ever owned an old car without having anything newer, and who has the oldest?

I did a lot of boring driving today, and while parked on another motorway, it occurred to me that the newest car I have ever owned was 2007 57 plate Mk5 Golf gti. All the cars I have bought since are older!

This is a combination of financial concerns thanks to having kids, prefering older cars as I can upgrade the stereos more easily, oh and being a tight arse and also not liking the man-maths concept of PCPs or leasing.

Thinking about it, a better title would be "Have you only ever owned old cars and how old was your youngest car?" Or "Whose youngest ever car is the oldest?"

Newest car I've ever owned is 2001 and I still own it but without context it means nothing

2001 SLK purchased 3 years ago

But in 1986 I purchased a 6 mth old car..... so I could write the newest car I've ever owned was a 1985 C plate car.....

I see where you want to go with the thread but I'd struggle to phase the question too

Don't think I've ever owned any metal that's less than 10years old.

My 'newest' car is a '96 A6 (which has just sailed through its' MOT - woo!) - I bought it in 2011 which makes it 14ish years old at the time.

The wife has a '99 Ibiza which could technically be called mine, but in spirit it isn't. I made her part-ex her (younger) Corsa for is as the Corsa was too new and about to break in a very expensive way.

The newest car I ever had was a 1991 mk2 Scirocco - which I bought in 2003, making it 12years old at the time.

I had a 05 plate MG in mid 2011 so circa 6 years old which was the newest car I have owned thus far mainly due to the fact I am a poor student and have a classic as well.

Newest is a 2001 Mondeo, I get some looks when I refer to it as 'modern' hehe Only car I've owned that's younger than me (although with a pool of three that's not necessarily saying much!). I think I'd prefer a Granada.

Newest car I have owned is a 2004 MG ZS180

Now considering the Chassis is from an early 90's Honda, the interior is of the same age and the engine is from a landrover it certaily dosn't feel that new.

Love old stuff me smile

I had a 99 Audi Cabriolet a couple of years back, but otherwise the newest is my Cerbera from 98. Most my daily drivers have been around 20+ years old. I've never owned a car from this century and I started driving in 2004.
