Offered cheap winter Quattro - Opinions?

A very low mileage '98 a4 avant 2.8 quattro has been offered to us for not a lot. I know nothing about audis, or this v6. Price is 1000 fine English sterling, mileage 75k. Does anyone have any specific opinions or what to look out for?

CAR Magazine thought they were pretty good back in the day. I've driven a B6 3 litre quattro and would concur with what others have said here, they like a drink. I don't know how much less thirsty 2.8 B5s are.
