What van for ~£1500?

I'm thinking smallish transit size as the mini vans won't be big enough and the ginormous efforts won't fit on the drive.

I know cuddly squat about vans so any advice or pointers is most welcome!

At that price point you're going to have be very careful about what you buy, I wouldnt necessarily focus on any particular van just buy the best condition one you can find, mileage is pretty irrelevant on a van provided it has been properly maintained.

I'd be looking at Toyota HiAce's and the older 'smiley face' Transits, most Vito's will be rotten, most VW stuff is overpriced, older Vivaro's are going to be seriously knackered.

As above, at that price it's more a case of seeing what's about rather than looking for a specific van.
