I'm going to flush out the system and renew the coolant on my 2000 2.7 diesel terrano. Because I can't be sure the block will be completely empty I was going to add 3 litres of anti freeze then top up with water, is this about right???

Half and halfish usually, a Terrano takes 10ltrs to fill so might need a bit more just to be safe

Drain it into a bucket, see how much you have drained and put 50% back in as anti-freeze...

Or mix the A/F and water before you add it and keep going until it's full? Then anything you have left is pre mixed in case you need any more at any point?

I always do it this way.

Have two old 5ltr bottles in the garage that I keep ready mixed coolant and screen wash in. Makes it simple for the wife to do any top ups herself. I always get red coolant and blue screen wash for this reason too.
