He has a well kitted garage with most things a home mechanic could need, so im really stumped for ideas.
What would a home mechanic appreciate thats "outside the box"?
Cheers

One of those supercar trackday vouchers so he can rag a car around a racetrack.

I did the M3/Formula Ford one at Brands and had a great time!

A Ctek batttery charger/conditioner.

He's probably got an old school charger and these new 'smart' chargers are so much better (smaller too).

Ctek is a brand leader who make superb kit. Also well within your budget. Aim to spend £70-£100.

strange that somebody would enjoy maintenance but not driving, it's usually the other way around.
for £150 you could give him my car for a week, I have a list of things that need doing smile

How about vouchers from motor factors or tool shops?
Power tools?

Oil extractor? if hes not already got one?

A good buy if hes older?

Although if he is he might not believe in them

They have been used in marine applications for years and many dealers use them smile

A selection of cleaning stuff like a clay bar, a good polish, a good wheel cleaner, some microfibre cloths, glass polisher - it'll soon add up to £150.

Failing that, a really good set of screwdrivers of varying lengths and sizes. Most people have general screwdrivers but rarely good ones as they tend to get used as pry bars, scrapers, hole punches... wink

Some great ideas!
His garage is quite well stocked, alot of the tools are old, but do the job.
He isnt into car cleaning at all laugh
But he does need a new pressure washer.
I like the idea of the oil extractor.
Rachet spanners are also a good idea.
As are an impact gun and a pressure washer.
He needs new axle stands as his are really messy and old. He also needs a new inspection light as his is so corroded its unreal.

Great ideas! i will do some online shopping at the weekend.
Cheers.

Inspection camera? Would make poking about in engine bays a lot easier.
