Dad has 0 interest in cars, bought his truck by lookin at the bed and didn't even get in it.

Mum however used to be a petrol head. Said he favourite car of all was a mk1 mr2. Realy regretted buying a flat instead of a corvette as well.

What have your parents owned?

Long before I arrived, Dad had an Opel Manta. I remember him also owning a nice black 24v Scorpio followed by two Escort Cosworths in the early 90s. I also remember Mum having an E30 318i which wasn't particularly special or cool but I always liked it. Incidentally I was in that car when it was written off. Dad bought his first Caterham in 2001 when I was 12.

My father had the usual Ford Capri's, Escorts etc and then went on to a Misubishi FTO, but the best was his Mitsubishi VR4. Quite a stealth car with 4 wheeled drive, V6 twin turbo and around 300bhp. He had apparently the last official UK reg one in the country and was kitted out with all the extras. Was a lovely car:-

First memorable for me was a dark red Citroen Traction Avant (1949 I think)that was followed by a 1955 Standard Ten and when the engine expired on that he replaced it with an old mobile Standard Fire Pump engine that he purloined from work.... It was all downhill from there I'm afraid with a series of wrecks until he had to stop driving in 2000 due to macular degeneration.

Citroen CX GTi. Not sure if it was necessarily cool at the time (1981-1985), especially with its gold/brown colour combination, but it was certainly a bit mad

Nothing at all, sadly..we had no money..My father worked hard and every penny went to the family.

His first car, when he was about 40 was a five-year old Hillman Minx, followed but a couple of equally old Humber Sceptres, and that was it.
Great to see some of the collections here though!..

Renault GTA Turbo
Nissan 300ZX

My dad still has his MGA which he's owned for almost 50 years. The others came and went when I was growing up. He's had lots and lots of Volvos since then.

Mum: Sunbeam Alpine
Dad: E-type Jaguar

In the mid-late 70's the father of one of my friends got rid of a Ferrari Dino for a Porsche 924 Turbo. Bet he's regretted that in recent years!

My dad once brought home an XR3i. To my twin brother and I, that was the coolest thing he could have ever brought home with the exception of the RS cosworth escort.

Ok, it's not that great a car...

Don't worry. Your son (if you have one) will be able to contribute to a future thread of this type with great pride.
