I was looking into tyres for my van , i know that you can get all seasons tyres, are they any good and are they truly all seasons
I rung my local tyre centre and the tyre i quoted as 4 seasons they said they where only good for winter, and would require changing in summer?

They do exactly what it says on the tin, Some added performance in the wet / cold / snow at the expense of a little performance in dry, warm conditions.

We run Vredesstein Quatrac all season and the new Pirelli Verde All Season.

They are a very good tyre for all year use but slightly compromised. a Winter tyre is slightly better but not by alot in the Auto Express tests and they aren't quite as good in the summer as a summer tyre. However they are significantly better than a summer in the winter.

I fit them to all our cars now. You can also run winters throught the summer however the summer performance does then suffer a fair bit.

I ran Quatrac 3s on our Fiesta and tested them extensively in the bad 2010/11 winter. I actually couldnt get the car stuck, and they were a more than adequate summer tyre too. I couldnt recommend them enough.

Its a van, not an M5!

We run Vredestein Quatrac all year round on BMWs and VWs - they work very well indeed in the crap weather. More than adequate for general transport such as your van.

Local tyre centre in talking bollards drama.

Of course suppose it depends on the details of exactly which tyre, but taking OP on word that they were all seasons.

And of course it's a van not a McLaren.

btw why is this in SP&L? Needs to be added to winter tyre thread.

I was going to get All Season but couldnt get the load rating.
Was told the only tyre for my car had been Pirelli but they had dropped them.

I got Goodyear winters on Wednesday instead.
It started snowing today smile

Lots of love for the Optimo 4S if that's what you're looking at:

I run Kleber Quadraxers all year round on my X-Type. No complaints here, if anything they're slightly quieter than the summer tyres they replaced.

They're cheaper supplied and fitted at the moment from ATS, than they are supply only from the likes of Oponeo, Pneus, Mytres etc.

Yep indeed and as previously written re advice not suitable for year round use on a van, more evidence of some tyre retailers having muffled voices when in sitting position.

A vote for all seasons here. Not that winters are bad, I love them. However I prefer jack of all trades rather than 'master of one'...

I tend to regard All Seasons as winters with less sipe count. I'm happy to run both types all year round.

Echo that.

Very acceptable in the summer and lots more grip on snow than normal tyres. Mine have worn pretty well also.

I've got Optimo 4S fitted all round on my ZT at the moment and will run them until March/April. They've made the car quite 'understeery' in the wet, but they are much smaller than the Dunlop SP Sports I run in summer and the winter performance is vastly improved over the SPs. I've ran Hankook Ice Bears on another car and the snow/ice performance of the 4S is only slightly reduced comparatively. They actually cope better than the full winters for most off the cold, wet weather we get most of the time in Aberdeen!

I'd be happy to run them all year round.
