Had this happen to is a few times stuff can be replaced but we didn't feel like it was our home again for a long time. The wife didn't like being at home alone (we were upstairs asleep when they broke in and didn't wake ).

Horrible I feel for anyone who has been through such things.

We didn't get a single thing back - everything was replaced apart from a 5gb media card in the camera which was full of our honeymoon pics (luckily not all we took 4 cards) but have lost them for good.

Do house alarms have any deterrent on these type of burglaries or do the scum still kick the kitchen door down and ignore the noise?

If hours doesn't and all else do then maybe you have a higher chance.

The way you dispose of say LED TV boxes leaving them out for refuse is a huge magnate
Nice cars too
No security lights
Overgrown front garden
No lights on timers if away.
Bins left out in street when away get neighbours to take yours in
Mail not pushed through letter box and left that way
