The ubiquitous one shoe and bottles of piss are pretty common on today's motorways and roads, the 'one shoe' always makes me smile and wonder how it came to be there.
The most useful thing I ever found was a 22mm spanner.

Today I found this:

Yes it's an engine from a Prius.

It must weigh 40kg and i'll be visiting a scrapyard with it this week - amazed I beat the pie-keys to it!

Not very interesting but i have retrieved 2 sack barrows from roads after they presumably

"fell off the back of a lorry" or van that somebody didn't secure properly.

I have 1 and my dad has another.

I have left an extremely expensive transmission in the road before, unintentionally.

I may have mentioned that last bit before, many times....yes

Forgive my ignorance but looking on the net, scrap = about £160/tonne (1000kg)

so 160/1000 x 40= £6.40

Look, all I'm saying is with something that valuable lying around in my garage I wouldn't be shouting about it on an open forum....

Found a front splitter and took it home to see if it was a close match to the mx5. Sadly my skills couldn't make it fit.

even more reason to keep mum about it, be careful if you wake up and there are 2 dogs tied together outside your garage, don't fall for it....

Motors are worth more than ordinary scrap. Going rate is circa £450-£500 p/t

so 500/1000 x 40 = £20

If you could be bothered to strip it and seperate the Cu and Fe it could be worth twice that

Good find smile

A 2T pump truck on dual carriageway, it literaly fell off the back of a lorry about 30 meters in front of me, i kept it in leu of the broken headlight it gave me as it wheeled it's way the wronge way down the road straight at me (road to busy to swerve), jumped ont and threw (well OK i stuggled to load it) it in the back of me pickup.
I did once spot a snap on phillipes screw driver on the middle reservation of the A414, it was 3Am so i stopper ran back and grabbed it smile i still have it 8 years later, it the only snap on tool i own LoL.

Scrap in London is below £100 a ton at the mo, that would go in as motors and windings which are about £250 a ton at the mo

My wife!

(I may or may not have had something to do with her being abandoned in said road, however I plead extenuating circumstances and as such have no memory for such event apart from remembering such event and pointing it out to her at every opportunity when she borders such extreme behavior that would warrant such abandonment.)

An alive but unconscious Tawny Owl.

Picked it up and moved it out of the road, after a few minutes it flew out of my hands and back into the woods.

Nice set of Aluminium ladders , trade not domestic as well.

We waited a few minutes to see if anyone came back for them , tied them to the roof rack and off we went.

Still use them.
