Well bloody hell!

I sent my tax disc in for refund in September, and the DVLA wrote back to refuse it last week, because my name was apparently spelt wrong on my v5 (the hyphen in my surname was down as a space).

OK, minor error on their part, but the fact that they took six weeks to notice, then informed me that I would forfeit two months tax and would have to write in pointing out the(ir) error, made me rather miffed.

So I wrote in as suggested, and certainly didn't hold back on the sarcasm.

Was amazed not only to get an apologetic phone call today from the DVLA (actual words were "found a mistake on our part"), but they also said they would refund the tax from the beginning of Oct.

So it is possible good PH folk, common sense and customer service sometimes happens at the DVLA.

You haven't seen the money yet, though?

Many a slip . . .

This was all a dream that the OP had.
It's not real. The dvla are still useless and blameless.
