Hi,

An indy dealer that I'm considering buying a car from is pushing a warranty with it. Two levels, "platinum" (£500 for 3 years) and "platinum plus" (£800 for 3 years)!

http://www.williamssalesltd.co.uk/pages/warranty

My instinct is that these warranties aren't worth it, but when I spoke to the dealer he said they didn't use third party warranties but arranged them themselves, and that this was closer to a manufacturers warranty than anything else (esp the plus one).

My feeling is that there isn't enough info on these pages to judge whether it's worth it or not. What I really want to see is what's excluded. That being said, I have no idea what I'm talking about with this sort of thing. Does anyone have any thoughts on it?

The car I'm looking at is a £7k, 10 year old Lexus, if that helps judge it.

Cheers in advance for any insight,

Luke

How do you know they'll even exist in another three years?

Personally I'd save the money and stick it in the bank as a repair fund if you're worried.

Good point.

I have basically decided that I don't want it, just wondering if anyone who knows more about it than me can give me a good reason why I'm wrong.

Cheers,

Luke
