I've owned many cars with good old fashioned carbs on and still own a couple biggrin And I have to say I'm a fan. I know dynamically they are inferior to a modern sensor ridden EFI system. But there is something about carb fed motors that just pleases.

I'm not entirely sure what it is, but somehow the throttle just seems more crisp than most EFI engines I've driven. And they always sounds just a bit different too.

Anyone else still have a passion or ownership of carb fed motors or am I the only one left?

I used to love my SU carburettor on my old A-series A40. Simplicity and genius in one package.

Twin SUs on the Midget. There's a certain satisfaction from working on them, but I can appreciate with their demise in the realm of daily drivers.

Agree completely - setting up the twin SU's in my father's MGB is a great pleasure, but EFI is worth it imo.

Two cars - four carbs between them. Only problem so far has been a sticking choke (soon cured).

Got twin SUs on the MG. There is definately something about them, and I love the fact that it's all purely mechanical.
For a long time, I considered having something with carbs in the kit, but eventually succumbed to the benefits of EFI.

A few of the guys on the mx5nutz forums have carbed their engines. Coupled with a head skim and a decent exhaust manifold you can get some nice gains in power.

Twin DCOE 40s onto a raceline zetec powering a caterham.
Makes a most wonderful induction noise, and the most incredible throttle response on cam, but they also prove sub 20mpg is easy from a 1.8. biggrin

The MG is still on twin SU's.

I have been considering a single webber conversion though.

Twin SU's on the MGB

Single Solex on the Herald (I'm sure no carb would give more power) hehe

I like them smile

I love them!

Nothing better than sitting at the bar in the man cave with fish and chips, tv on and strip and rebuild a webber.

Apart form driving what ever they have come off.
