I'm not sure if this has been covered elsewhere but I thought some of you might like to take a look at the pictures in the following article:

747bhp from 2.4L and that's N/A. That is deeply impressive. Hell, it's impressive for forced induction. Good find OP.

just makes me think how restrictive the F1 regs are

As far as I can make out from various articles the f1 restrictions next year are down to fuel mostly a limited amount for a race so they can make a powerful engine but it needs to some how be frugal- the holy grail!

Fascinating. 700+ bhp, nearly 20k rpm, and all from a 95 kg engine.

I came across the article reading through some forum posts on f1technical.net

I was quite interested in the reduction in weight of certain components (pistons, con-rods etc) and the development of low-friction materials (diamond-like-coating then onto chromium nitride, with or without DLC)

Plus, everything looks so cool

I was wondering why honda had finger-followers under the cams, as opposed to cam-over-bucket....something to do with pneumatic valve springs?

They all have finger followers, I assume it is something to do with the pneumatic springs, as they essentially form a bucket over the valve already.

There is an article in this months Race Engine Technology about the Cosworth CA, the 95kg is the minimum allowed according to the regs. Cosworth believe it would be more like 85kg without the weight limit.

The engines are artificially rev-limited also, I believe.

They were getting close to that before the materials bans came into effect, the weight limit meant that a lot of components had weight added to increase reliability, and hence reduce cost.
