If you're going to go to the trouble of creating a dodgy Classified ad on PH, surely you'd make certain the car apparently for sale actually matches the car in the photo's?

I don't know, maybe I'm being too suspicious and this is an entirely genuine Audi 120d coupe, it comes with free UK delivery (probably via Parcelforce) and has lots of Audi M sport options, maybe I'm missing out here!!

Certainly a scam, but what exactly is the scam? Maybe they get you to look at their BMW 120d by fooling you into believing it's an Audi A5. You buy it convinced it is the real deal, then at your first Audi service the service manager tells you it's actually a BMW!!

Have to be some scammer given the BMW is black, yet you'd be going for a white Audi smile

Wonder what the genuine scam actually is then, maybe premium rate number? weird.

Always a girl's name then a number in the email address. It's like they can't even be bothered to try.

What exactly is the scam?

There's loads to choose from.
But, probably something involving a 'refundable' deposit or delivery costs.

Maybe the seller will paypall you £500 to give to the delivery driver in cash.

There are loads on here from the same seller (elise61@ btinternet.com), same format and all rather too good to be true.

They all say the following things which and are enough to make me suspicious:-

  • PLEASE NOTE : For Availability of this car please contact seller directly. You will find contact details on photos

BARGAIN- Low price because I am looking for a fast sale . The car will be listed only today.

!!! PLEASE READ BELOW!!!
!! VERY IMPORTANT--I CAN`T BE REACHED THROUGH CONTACT SELLER FORM OPTION!!! FOR MORE DETAILS PLEASE E-MAIL ME DIRECTLY AT: elise61@ btinternet.com

Indeed, there's a BMW advert exactly like that one.

They don't need to try, there are enough morons out there to fall for it repeatedly.

They have hacked an account so cant take contact via the account, hence the need to put email addresses on the pics.

I know how they've done it, i just don't understand why they don't just create a normal ad with some random pictures and it would look a lot more legitimate than that horrible effort.

As someone has said earlier though, if people didn't fall for it they wouldn't keep doing it.

Why don't they pull these ads? They get reported but nothing happens!
