I have taken the wheels off the base and will screw some batton to the floor around it so it can't move, so i think the base is fine.

But what do we think about the top?

It is ridiculously heavy(nearly killed myself getting it up their on my own!) , especially once full, have tried giving it a good push from each side and doesn't move at all.

Its only a transit connect, so not like it has much acceleration, braking or cornering performance hehe

so guys do we think this will be safe? or will it topple?

Oh and i can lock the cabs which stops the draws opening.

and yes its probably overkill for an electrician, but i like things tidy and in place.

What will happen in a stop from say 30mph to zero in 3 feet.
Well as your a sparky I'd guess you would end up killed by the shower of cable tie cut offs left all over the floor.

I'd bracket it back at the top also.

I am going to say that it will be perfectly fine then wait for you to post the picture of it being 'safe' after you have been for a drive round the block and over a few speed bumps.

The top part will move.

All that weight holding it down will become all that weight pushing it over.

The main issue will be when cornering.

IMHO naturally

It'll be fine.

I have unbolted my drivers seat as my bulk keeps it firmly in place at all times when seated.

Trust me.

In short, no.

Needs a bracket at the top. Either weld a bracket each side or use a strap type bracket all the way round it.

Just to check I'd replace the top chest with a 25 litre container of emulsion paint and go for a drive. No point risking damaging the tool chest...

(Trust me, having been a courier with a Connect, you want everything very secure, especially showers of cable tie cut offs biggrin )

I wouldn't. I used to work with a guy who had similar. He crashed, toolbox flew forward and broke his neck.

I'm amazed that you got as far as coming to ask about this on the internet... Borderline Darwinism.

I've been looking at these in Halfrauds at the moment. The are very good value for money at £200 for the pair. I wanted them for my garage but it is so full of motorbikes I can't fit it in. I've got a new lean to shed going up in January. Lets hope they are still on offer then.

I'd probably want it bolted to the bulkhead, but that's just me.

Something like that, I'd strap down tight, then strap it tighter, then add a few more fixings to be sure.

If they aren't then just wait, the offers are cyclical - will come round again.

Does the van have a metal bulkhead?

If not it certainly will not be safe in a crash.
