12v Tyre Pump Needed

My one just broke and I need a new pump. The last one used to take about 20-30 mins to pump up a 18" tyre from flat.

Whats do you use, any recommendations.

Not sure on the model but last year herself got me one from Maplins, think it was under £20, it works fine and is pretty fast, done a few friends tyres at meets and they were impressed.......works miles better with the car engine running ( maybe my battery is pants)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ring-Automotive-RAC610-Ana... seems to be one of the best cheap ones, can pump up two from flat in a couple of minutes. Have to wait a few minutes to cool down but then its fine for the rest.

I have a Michelin one, round with a light. Been faultless for years. Definitely get one which screws onto the valve, the ones that clip on eg. Cheaper Halfords ones are tge first bits to fail in my experience.

Years ago I bought one from a Mini mobility pack, it's in a blue case and all the cables/pipe stow away. It's brilliant.

Vw I know use the same one. Try ebay

I've had this one for 6 years, fully inflates from flat in around 3 minutes, I have used it countless times over the years to both just top up pressure and to revive a pancake before I got my alloys re-furbished.

The only word of advice is to make sure you secure it in some way in your boot, as it had been rattling around in mine and stopped working, I took the cover off and found the plastic propeller attached to the compressor had jammed against some plastic trim, I freed it up and it has been fine since.

I can do it from flat in about three minutes with my bicycle pump

is almost identical to the one we bought the other year. Works brilliantly. It's actually quicker than the typical nasty plastic buzzy compressor, all the way up to about 45psi for the camper's tyres.

Wouldn't fancy doing the bloody great big tyres on the Shogun, but even with a proper compressor, they take a fair while.

I bought a recommended Ring one from Amazon and it's an utter PITA.

• "Screw on" valve connector is slow, cumbersome and pointless.
• Cable tidy doesn't give enough room to wrap the hose and cable.

Works though.

Argos look to be cheaper than Halfords for the Michelin pump.

Cheapo one from Tesco is reasonable (<£10 iirc).

The major annoyance is the lack of on/off switch which means to turn off you have to unplug from the cigarette lighter.

In the boot of the car I have a halford type cig lead one, not bad but the gauge is V inaccurate and its a bit slow compared to the above.
When it dies I will replace it with the smaller brother of the above.
