Husband and wife. Early 40's. Husband will watch any Motorsport. Wife... Well, not quite so addicted and hasn't been to any motor racing event.

Le Mans Classic or Silverstone Classic?

(Both would be in hotels).

Silverstone was wicked, I cant speak for LMC, but I walked into the pit area, and was allowed into the garage of a team running an Aston dbr1 and DP212, they were so relaxed, as were all the people there.

LMC - great in times past, totally unrestricted access to the best cars in the world - unfortunately now the folk with money have discovered it...

Both great events in their own right.

The atmosphere around the paddock at LMC at night is amazing - very special especially as the guys come back to the paddocks along the Bugatti circuit at racing speeds. Oh, and the track laps are awesome. I did two laps on Saturday morning before the racing kicked off and hammering down the Mulsanne with the roof off was mega.

Saying all that, LMC only features sports cars. If you love the whole spectrum of racing them the Silverstone Classic has all manner of single seaters and touring cars to enjoy as well. You cannot touch the sight and sound of a Sauber C11 or a Jaguar XJR-9 through Maggotts.

In terms of entertainment for somebody with little interest in motor racing, honestly, I probably wouldn't even bother. LMC is in France which is a novelty in itself but neither circuit is blessed with an abundance of comfortable grass banks to enjoy like Goodwood or Oulton Park, nor are they picturesque.

I have just booked LMC first timer , my birthday treat from my SWMBO both in our 20's but this is my Bday treat from her for leaving that decade behind hehe

Would like to do LM but don't think i could take her to that environment so think/hope LMC is a little more refined. And a few days in France before heading home should be nice.

I took my missus to Bathurst this year. She loved getting stuck into the banter with the natives. I'm sure your good lady would cope with LM24. LMC is less 'blokey' but it's not as refined as the Revival, for example. It's a great event and you must do the track laps in the Cerb.

I've been to both with the Mrs. She enjoyed both but prefered Silverstone because it wasn't a full four days surrounded by cars and the music entertainment on Fri/Sat is fantastic. If it's your good ladies first classic racing weekend then I'd recommend Silverstone.
I love Classic Le Mans though, as events go it's the best for car geeks, especially the run down there in convoy with other TVR's.

I'd go with Silverstone too, such a range of different cars and races there should be something they can relate too and enjoy.

Does she know that Le Mans (the city) is a short tram rise away? Well worth a visit too.
