Is there ever a time when one can wear the logo/brand of your own particular make of car without looking like a proper Malcom/Colin/Terry (choose the appropriate christian name)especially at a car meet? Is it a bit like going to football in a full kit?

Only if you are pre-pubescent.

Being into cars of all sorts I have t-shorts and hoodies relating to many different marques and/or motoring events. Being a normal bloke my thought process for dressing for a car meet is along the lines of:

1) Open draw
2) grab clothes
3) Are clothes clean?
4) Yes, wear them.
5) No, return to 1.

Note the lack of a step that says "check clothing branding is suitable for event", if it's clean, it's worn.

The only time I can think of would be if you work for that company, own the same type of car AND are actually at work.

Does everyone with a Subaru get given a jacket/fleece/cap?

I have a few bits got a baseball U.S.A. jacket from the wife before I got my car.
Its tasteful and not OTT once, I got the car I started to wear it. However not all the time.
I have bought a few other bits, as well each to there own I think?

I collect a few garage items as well. I have got a lovely Porsche Collection 51 cars in display cabinet.

Unless you happen to work for the particular marque then it's not really acceptable.

My Dad drives his XKR convertible in the summer wearing a black leather Jaguar baseball cap (fake merchandise he picked up from a car show once). It's the sort of thing you can imagine the Gimp wearing on his day off.

I used to have a set of gorgeous hand made Porsche Design driving shoes which were ideal for my work, unfortunately they didn't last that long, shame as they were beautiful and as comfy as could be.

I own a Subaru dealership, so I think I'm allowed to wear everything Subaru, without fear of accusation.

I see it as being similar to wearing a football shirt for a club you don't play for - rather weird, but there's nothing wrong with it.

I've got a strange short sleeved top (Polo shirt with a zip?) that has similar logos to this below:

Or this shirt:

My Dad supposedly got it for free when he went to the BAR factory. I think it's almost 'allowed' as it looks quite authentic and not necessarily directly related to a manufacturer, more just F1. I don't particularly like it though and I've only worn it a couple of times in 10 years or so; since buying a Honda it's just kept at the back of the wardrobe..

There's a lad I sometimes I see out in town on an evening who wears the most rediculous looking fleece with all sorts of racing logos on it. I can't help but cringe every time I see it, looks like something you'd get from a Turkish market.

I've owned a few 911s, but would never dream of owning any Porsche branded clothing. I don't even have a Porsche Design toaster. I feel a bit silly having a Porsche keyring as it smacks of trying a bit hard.

I once went to a supercar charity event and a chap there owned a 348. Fair play to the guy, he was giving runs out in his car for charity and not holding back, especially considering he ran his back tyres down to the tread limit, but it was a bit cringey seeing his Ferrari trainers, Ferrari jacket and Ferrari cap...
