Hi there,

Is there any way of checking weather a car has been involved in an accident and repaired via insurance if it is not cat A,B,C or D?

Thanks

Well I'm pretty sure you'd notice if it was category A or B...

No - it's not recorded anywhere.

You would have to look at the car to see if there is any evidence of repair.

In short - no.
If the insurance company has paid for a repair and not 'written off' the car is not recorded on any database other than that of the insurance company and that will be private between them and policy holder.
A good eye is the only way, or an honest seller.
Don't worry too much though, there will be thousands and thousands of cars that have had repairs from minor to major, all unrecorded because the insurance paid for repair. Then there are those cars that get repaired with no insurance company in the loop, where someone decides not to claim, settle outside of insurance, can be absolutely no record then if cash gets paid to a repair shop.
Many new cars will get damaged during transit and storage and need minor work before they are even sold!

Eyes of a hawk.

With a good repair the answer should be no.

But my god I have seen some shoddy work. I am pretty convinced there is an accident repair centre somewhere in the UK with Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and David Blunkett doing the paintwork. I think it is located on a very sandy beach, and only opens at night. The supplier they use presumably only sells spray cans aswell....

You could take it to a petrol station at night, the lights usually show up differences in paint colours

Yep as above its very difficult to tell and in some cases impossible if the job has been done thoroughly to OEM standards. Easy enough to tell if its had a crap repair though!

Haha

I know an absolutely brilliant paint guy in cheshire, but it took ages to find one.

I don't know how some of the others stay in business. Really grinds my gears poor paintwork.
