The last time I created a WC? thread, I bought an actual car suggested in the thread. Well, here I am again, throwing myself at your feet, begging for assistance.

I want a new car. Well, not new, maximum of 3.5 grand. Fun to drive, not bothered about seats, load space, any of that st, this'll be a second (well, third) car. I'd prefer RWD and a petrol engine but those aren't set in stone if a compelling car can be found. This won't be the child-carrying wagon so anything goes.

The wife has given me the go-ahead to spend two grand but I reckon I can quietly stretch it to 3.5k. Do your worst.

Postcode EH54 6QX is close enough to my place of work and home to be convenient, I'd travel maybe 30 miles from there.

Thanks! If I buy a suggested car, I'll send the lucky helper a special T-shirt...

No-one ever recommends it on PH.
So - you will be setting a trend.

Joking aside, a MX5 would probably be a good bet. Just make sure it isnt rusty. Or an XK8 if your feeling daring.

I've found a Renaultsport Megane 225, a Clio 182, Civic Type R, various MX-5s and their like. None of this stuff is really floating my boat, probably the Megane is most interesting to me out of that lot.

With your post code you're going to have to travel, even with a distance of 60 miles I struggled to find anything that I'd be happy to say "you should buy that". Everything is either 'meh' or has a to do list.
I know. frown

All these glorious roads and the bloody Jocks fill them with diesel Euroboxes.

Papa, can I ride on your gravy train please? I am after the SAME thing. Up to £4k, and within 60 miles of SN3 6BB.

Knock yourself out, I now genuinely believe there are no interesting and fun cars in this price range in this area.
