BMW i3 : I had a test drive, was told there was an offer of free professional satnav if ordered before Feb so I signed up ( it needed a senior sales rep to sign who again confirmed the satnav was free, also no price rises until the end April estimated delivery or whenever it was), so I signed up and paid £1,000 deposit.

Now I am told the satnav is not free, it costs £960, and unless I sign another contract I will not bet the behicle.
The dealer said they only found out from BMW last week, but as far as I am concerned a contract is a contract.

Which I guess I will find out as I will sue them if necessary. But this does look like a last minute change by BMW having decided they can sell the cars without such an incentive. I remember Hoover doing this, trying to remove a free flight offer and failing .....

If you have an order form with a price that includes it for the price I dont see how they can weedle out of it as you say.

Quick call to BMW UK?

Tell them you want your deposit back and you'll be writing to BMW HQ.

You put down the deposit on the basis that the sat nav was free - it was the deal breaker for you. Now you want to withdraw your deposit.

They'll have massive margin in these cars. Don't be put off by their BS.

They're pulling a fast one in the hope you'll just do it. Get everything in writing and they'll soon back down

Job 1, get your deposit back and write a letter alluding to miss-selling to BMW and hand a copy to the dealer principle.

When is your delivery date?

They appear to be selling like hotcakes so someone might want to buy your build slot

BMW did offer the free pro nav. I was told they did not know how long that would last but it was expected to run to Feb. I ordered back in August and finalised an order with the Pro nav showing as £0.

When I put my deposit in I was given an order form which showed the spec. When the order went firm I tweeked this to the spec I wanted and again an order.

If you therefore have an order form signed by both parties showing Pro Nav at £0 then they can't really go back. If as I suspect your dealer took the £1000 as an expression of interest and the order was never formally placed then your gripe is with the Dealer for not honoring their agreement with you..

See how you get on. If you retract your order though lead times are now out to August odd I think.

Dealers are on a fixed fee for sales of the i3 - they act as agents on behalf of BMW - contract is actually between customer and BMW so totally different to all other models that BMW sell

I wouldnt take my deposit back - then you have no negotiation - tell them you want the car your ordered at the price they contractually agreed to. end of.

That's what I would have thought too.

Is option 609 listed on your contract note and shown as £0.00 ?

I bet what you signed says BMW have the right to change the specification or withdraw at any time and other such get-outs.

I'll be interested to see how you get on with this, good luck with the dealer though.

I ordered mine at the end of Oct and got the free upgrade. I was told by my dealer that BMW pulled the offer the Friday after official launch which was 24th Nov and that it was only for cars built before March. This was due to the large demand and they figured they didn't need he offer. Sounds like your dealer was ill informed. As it's their error, I would push for it though.

Haven't got the paperwork with me but there is definitely an option for the pro nav and it says £0 next to it...

If you've paid a deposit, have a signed order form which includes the nav within the price, there's feck all they can do about it.

On a slightly different topic there are now a number of people where I work buzzing around in Nissan Leafs because the monthly payment was less than their fuel bills, I think Nissan were offering them for less than £200/mo.

I'm assuming BMW are not offering anything even near this sort of level?
