Is there anything more frustrating than being an avid viewer of this forum and reader of evo etc knowing that you will never own anything like an amg or 911 or monaro or whatever because you dont have enough money -probably still keep looking though.banghead

Don't see it as a negative. Set it as a target.

If you want it bad enough and are willing to make the required sacrifices, you will get it.

Luke.

If you think like that you're right you'll never have those. Think positive, put your mind to it and work towards those targets.

Awful lot to be said for a vx220/Elise?

Speaking to a guy at Brands, bought a vx for £6k, planning some eurotrips with it for next year, and they make a surprisingly viable daily (I'll vouch for that)

If you have good health and good application most things are possible in life. Certainly earning enough to have a good life. Up to each individual. Go for it. Carpe Diem is a pretty good motto.

I find Octane and C&SC even more frustrating wink

Seriously though, I can still get very excited about the thoughts of owning something pretty special that wouldn't cost the earth to buy e.g. an AMG C43 estate. Obviously I'd prefer a CLK Black, but not by that much of a margin

No you dont understand I mean no money as in not even covering your outgoings and watching the debt slowly rising up a bit like a small version of this country ,6 grand for a TVR might as well be 6 million.

Sell the XJR, buy something small and cheap to run (I've had to do it before).
I got to a point where I had to sell my car and motorbike, was depressing as hell, living at home with the parents.
I was young at 21, but it wasn't the direction I wanted to go. I was catching the bus and couldn't afford to go out to the pubs with my friends.

Eventually sorted out my debts, credit cards were paid off. Then made a plan to get a better paid job, stopped smoking the green. Went to college at 24 years old and now I'm secure in a job I never thought I'd be able to pull off.
As I've become older I don't feel the need to have the latest trendy phone/clothes/kettle etc.... which also helps...

Take a step back, sort out your life and the rest will follow... Work hard and have goals.

In that case, get on here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/forumdisplay.p...

If you genuinely are struggling, the first step is acknowledgement and then action.

Don't let it spiral out of control, it's a vicious circle.

I remain utterly staggered that there are still humans on this planet who believe a "cheap" Cayenne Turbo or Esprit V8 will ever be anything other than expensive to own.

The OP needs help in the direction of "fun" cars which can be enjoyed on a budget, not "supercars". Those supercars still have supercar ownership costs when they are old. That's why they become cheap!!

I must agree with Ozzie here. Supercar ownership means being one major component failure away from major, if not crippling costs. New engine in a Cayenne Turbo? I think not!

I know what you mean, in a first world problems sort of way when I watch things like top gear and they are driving across Europe or the USA in things like aventadors and paganis I do sort of feel gutted that I'll probably never even sit in one let alone own one and drive across Europe. You only live once and in this case of once it's not going to be enough hehe

But that said I am genuinely grateful for what I do have and realise how good things are when you see and hear of how genuinely hard a lot of people do have it frown

I've been lucky to afford some cars I've hankered after, 2 cossies and my current M5. I've owned some st in my time too to get me by when money was tight.

When I got into debt issues I stopped using my then nothing special 3.2 vectra and started using my dads omega diesel as it was a lot cheaper to run. Sell the jag, get something cheap and fun, save money, get out of debt, then look to the future.

Make sacrifices, start living within your means. Get rid of pointless things such as Iphone5 contracts, gym memberships, sky tv packages, impulse buys, make your own lunch for work and learn to cook so you can eat fancy food at home on the cheap. Do this on an average salary and that Tvr will be yours in a couple of years.
