"Vice" video on boy racers
Discussion
Just wondering if any of the PH collective have seen this, and what some of you think?
Maybe some of you feature in it at some point.

Thought provoking or just plain provocative tripe?

Just sat and watched it all... i like the vice documentaries on the most part but in this case i don't think they could have found a bigger tit in the UK to represent those of us who choose to spend time and money on cars.

I have to say, as a 'documentary' it is dire, IMO. It's depressing that this is how the car scene is being portrayed. But then we have to remember it is vice, and they only care to serve their agenda. They are free to completely ignore the thousands of decent people who just love cars and driving without feeling the need to endanger the lives of others. d
heads.I posted it in the youtube thread a couple of days ago, it came to my attention because I know some of the cars that feature in the start of it. In their defense they are either in the background or are part of the drift taxis, the unanimous conclusion was that it couldn't be anymore of a chavfest if it tried

All i learnt from that, is that it was nice to see Danny Parsons & Mike "Biggers" Bignell still going strong since featuring on Police Interceptors a few years back
As for the rest of it - I honestly didn't realise there was still a scene for nastily kitted, overly neon-ed up cars - I thought they died out years ago.

I watched it, and frankly it is a disgrace to call it a documentary.
I'm still into the custom/modified/cruise scene (despite my age!) and what that video showed was nothing whatsoever like the scene I have experienced in recent years.
If someone told me it was filmed in 1999/2000 I would have believed them as it looks like some of the dreadful old cruises that took place around that time, complete with s
tty Corsa's covered in neons and chavs swilling from cans.
It is nothing more than trolling to provoke some kind of reaction, but why, I have no idea at all.
The louts and low-life's depicted do not represent the vast majority of enthusiasts these days.
Go to any shows or meets such as Players, Edition38, JapFest, and countless others and you will see that the cruise/modified scene is hugely alive and kicking, but is now awash with Porsches and Ray-Ban sunglasses, not Corsa's and gold Soverign rings...
I suggest watching these short clips below an example of what the 'boy racer' scene actually looks like to me these days:

I have no idea where they dug up those people in the Vice documentary from.

I've only ever been to one cruise (Southend and Basildon, circa 2004) and it was pretty much exactly as depicted in the video. It was awful. They've never been my scene anyway, but I was extremely glad to be in a friend's car - I wouldn't have wanted mine anywhere near the place as it was just a matter of time until it got damaged in some way. We left fairly swiftly when a Nova (yes, really
) crashed into the back of another car right next to a group of people. Utterly, utterly, dreadful.
