My renewal is due and I've been with Admiral for 5 years now but they have given my a crap quote and Hasting seem to come up with the cheapest price across all the comparison sites but after a google search they seem to have pretty bad reviews.

Anyone here with any experience with them?

cheers

They're not very good when comes to claims. Will keep fobbing your claim off to a claims management company even when the claims management say they won't deal with it due to liability conflicts or total loss meaning you get bounced backwards and forwards between the 2.

They are very efficient. They took my money exactly when they said they would.

Comprehensive policies also come with a 'you get what you're given' in the event of a glass claim.

I've also heard that the £60.00 windscreen excess (for replacement) also applies to repair.

Overall, quite st when it comes to claims.

I was with them at one point, not impressed when I spoke to them on various issues. I then found that my Class1business cover didn't extend into Europe so binned them & went to the AA. Although a lot of companies don't cover Europe on the C1 only the UK.

Been with them 2 years, no hassle at all, highish fee when I changed car but others are the same. Had 2 windscreen claims in that time and they went smoothly, although the first took some time as they don't use the biggest chain and it was 5/6 days before a new windscreen. The next time they were offering to be out in 2 days. won't be with them next year, the obviously don't like the new car and don't come close with the quote.

Are the quotes from Elephant, Diamond or Bell close to the Hastings one? If so, call Admiral with the quote reference and they'll price match it.

Saves a bit of hassle.

IMO, it's worth paying above the cheapest quote if you know how you want things to work in the even of a claim.

Nope, very weird this year!

Every year for renewal Admiral would send me a ridicules quote but they would end up coming with the cheapest on the comparison sites, usually undercutting their own renewal price by a few hundred pounds. I would just give them a call and they would change it to that price but this year they seem to be actually expensive and coming up in the middle of all the lists of companies.

I paid around £500 last year and this year I got quoted £650 but when I called and told about Hasting they said they didn't want me to leave and all that bs but ended up giving me a poverty spec quote with all the extras I had taken off which bought the price down to £530. I decided not to renew but after going though 4/5 sites they came up with a quote of £430. I might give them another ring and see if I can bring down that quote.

so far Hasting doesn't seem to be doing very good.

I had problems with their renewal service. Seems they charged £20 to refer you to a company, whilst Adrian Flux only charged £10, and at a lower premium .

I had to explain to them in very small words how insurance was supposed to work, but after they finally understood it's been going quite well.

Ignore this.Cheap quotes are usually cheap because in the event of a claim you'll find out why they are cheap.Have been with Hastings, try getting through to them with a query, was still waiting for them to contact me about a query when i left them 8 months later.

It's unbelievable that on one thread we have people saying to spend twice what a cheap set of tyres costs for a branded make "just in case". Yet when it comes to insurance most seem to want to go for the cheapest regardless of the restrictions they will impose in the event of a claim.

After all, you're far more likely to benefit from quality insurance than to use that extra 10% performance quality tyres will give.

I've found this to my cost. Abysmal service in the event of a claim.

Ended up going with Hasting frown just too much of a difference with other companies and they were offering no claims protected for £380 while all other companies offered around £600 and atm I'm strapped for cash.
