EVO is turning into Porsche monthly
Discussion
The latest Evo arrived this morning and while I appreciate that there is a particular kind of driving that EVO enjoys and that Porsche makes the cars which best ticks those boxes it's a bit OTT.
It would have been anal for me to have counted the pages before posting, and each of the individual features has merit but the balance?
Most of what makes up the rest of the magazine are reviews of other German cars.
I'm sure it is just a blip.

Mine turned up this morning, I stopped subscribing some time ago but they called me and offered me 5 copies for £5 and a free gift (was expecting something car related but got an electric toothbrush!) so thought I would give it a chance. Quick look through shows little of interest, except the TWR XJS, but as Octane and Motor Sport also arrived today I am not short of reading material.
I think we're bound to get more coverage of certain marques if a website or magazine is about the driving or enthusiast side of cars, rather than the A to B practical aspects of cars.
BMW, as mentioned above, are one of the few manufacturers making rear wheel drive well balanced saloons with a low CofG - all things that appeal to keen drivers, so it's no surprise there's more coverage on PH for BMW than for, for example, Ford or Audi.
Porsche, as already stated, make superb sports cars, so along with Lotus and Ferrari surely it's no surprise to see Porsche getting a disproportionate share of pages on Evo or mentions on PH?
I personally don't think anything is out of proportion, but as the OP says, unless we start counting pages or posts there's no way to prove that conclusively. I've yet to notice a bias on PH or Evo.

In many ways the tragedy of the last few years is that Lotus has utterly failed to mount a significant attack on the European sportscar market which is now completely dominated by one manufacturer.
As I'm sure has been said before, I think this shows the priorities of buyers in the sports car market. In my un-biased opinion, Porsche cars trump Lotus cars on virtually every criteria except driving enjoyment (compared with Lotus' current line up, Porsches have: a lower CofG, bespoke engines, they're generally cheaper for the performance, better build quality or perceived build quality which is what really matters, better or less divisive looks, better image etc etc). However, regarding driving enjoyment, in my honest opinion Lotus are so far ahead of Porsche it's almost amusing. Personally, driving enjoyment is very high on my list of priorities so having tried several Caymans alongside the Evora S and Exige S, it would be an easy decision to go for the Lotus for me. However, I'm sure that the truth is that 99% of buyers are more interested in facets of a car other than driving enjoyment, so naturally they plump for a Porsche.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
