sure i clocked one for £16k a few weeks ago. im on the eye out for a 205, but you'd have to be beyond mental to consider those kind of figures for one

Perhaps if it was a 1FM or one of the other rare Special Editions, but for a 1.6 GTI, methinks not.

A week ago in (Lake) Annecy, I saw a CTI for sale on a main dealer forecourt (Vauthier - but I can't find their stock list to check the price). Strange to see a car that age for sale at a MD - so I guess it was expensive!

The one above was up for sale at around 10k a year ago ( see halfway down thread -> http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=123... )

It is worth that to the right person. Clean cars with good history are hard to find so establishing 'value' is much harder.

As with anything like this, cars, houses, etc, etc... the question is 'who will be your buyer'

In the case of a Peugeot 205 in mint condition you'd be looking at a car collector. Maybe someone who collects Peugot's or French cars.

If it were in average condition and priced at 4k then someone more normal who was looking to try the 205 to see what the hype is or someone looking to recreate their youth might be interested.

But with those prices...

Why not just buy a tatty one and spend £6k on it. Then it would be as good or better than either of those two.
