Ive got a Ford Transit Connect Van, the sound quality is truly dreadful, I'm bit of a lover for sound quality, and its driving me nuts!

Ive replaced the head unit with one of these: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/head-units/cd-play...

But the sound quality is still abysmal frown

So I'm thinking of replacing the door speakers (13cm) with a decent set of components and mount a tweeter up on the A pillar.

But think there will still be little bass from 13CM speakers, so thinking of mounting an active Sub by the bulkhead?

But am a bit worried of creating a rattling mess??

As the Van rattles a fair bit on its own, so will adding a sub increase this rattling, and ruin the sound quality? or will it sound ok?

Anyone got any advice or experience with audio systems in vans?

Cheers

Is the van ply lined? This tends to reduce a fair bit of rattling. I have a vauxhall combo, so pretty similar in size to your van. My van has a decent head unit, a separate amplifier that drives a 12 inch sub woofer, 2 tweeters and 4 6x9 speakers. Sounds amazing.

I don't have it anywhere near as loud as it can actually go - just have the speakers set up for the best acoustics etc...

2 of the 6x9 speakers are bolted in the metal bulk head thing behind the driver/passenger and the other 2 6x9 are in the original door position. I had to modify the door plastics but it didn't take too long or much skill. Tweeters are in the A pillar. Amplifier is positioned on the back of the bulkhead in the rear of the van.
