Yes I know...another what car thread

A friend of mine has £1,500 to spend on an economical, diesel 5 door car. She used to have a Ford Focus (250,000 odd miles when it finally give in last week)
She is a nurse who goes round to houses so it has to be reliable, economical and preferably have a bit of poke she also has two kids and a dog so practicality is pretty high up on the list of requirements.
Any ideas greatly received, thanks in advance

Personally I think for that money Citroen offer decent diesel cars. But generally stick to a well serviced car with sensible mileage, worry less about the badge.
