I once read a thread with someone putting an LS7 in an E46, it was awesome.

443bhp at the wheels, so presumably getting close to 500bhp as a manufacturer would quote it.. That's a serious piece of kit!

I thought you might be talking about this, which entertains me greatly as well.

So does this other video of ithehe

Seems like the logical answer in most cases. If a big cheap to fix, simple pushrod V8,will fit where a more expensive complicated ( much ) less powerful 6 cylinder once was the choice has to be a no brainer.

A PH'er has a 330ci fitted with an LS7, aptly named the 357ci. Serious piece of kit with amazing attention to detail, nice shade of blue too!

Definetely on my top 5 list for coolest car on PH.

That's the one I was thinking of. It's an LS1:

I guess it is like dancing with a fridge. You can do it - but why would you want to?

I truly applaud the engineering effort - but am a bit lost as to why someone would want to do it

The M3 engine is a nice piece of work as it is.
Punting the car is going to be interesting.

I can only answer for my own car not the E36 M3. I did it simply because I wanted to have something different & unique. I understand it's a bit marmite but I did it for me not anyone else.

Jon Moffat (RSR Ring Rentals) had a Ford Mustang motor in his Z3M Coupe, then ditched that for a 1JZ single turbo, which it still has I believe.
