We've been in the habit of splashing a few air miles on our holiday car rentals in the last couple of years, nice to have a bit more space with a young son and to try out some newer models of cars we have owned/ think we would like.

Well, had an Alfa GTV years ago and when I bought the Alpina was looking at v6 GTVs as well (front wheel drive ones). So when Avis offered a giulietta at the airport this week I thought it would be good to see how Alfa is doing...

Is it representative of their offerings now? Honestly I was really unimpressed. Guess it must be near £20k to buy and nothing about it worked for us- the ergonomics (really bad splayed leg old Alfa position, handbrake doesn't fit with the armrest), cabin quality, even the economy of the diesel wasn't impressive. Only the whirly rear lamps and back door handles made me smile, that's a bit sad, no?

Anyone have good experience of the giulietta or other new Alfas? A 159 is out of the question for me as a potential E91 replacement due to weighing a full 1 series more!
