Selling a used car on Auto trader and the other usual places at the moment that's had a little bit of paint, and I mean a little bit! Just a new bumper and wing painted. Car is worth 20k+ if that has any bearing.

It was fixed by insurance and was nowhere near being written off, hence has no category marker against it on HPI etc

Am I obliged to make that clear to any buyers if they don't ask? You'd never tell from looking at the car that's its had any paint.

Would you volunteer the info? What if they found out after purchase? Do they have any comeback on me?

If the question isn't asked you're not obliged to tell them anything.

Many 2nd hand cars have seen the wrong end of a spray gun. Years ago, I saw this as a problem. Not so much nowadays. Provided it's a decent repair and the car drives well, I don't see a problem.

I know I've bought cars in the past that have had a panel or bumper replaced. Sellers are not obligated to tell a buyer anything. Depends on how you personally feel about it.

Do you think a dealer would tell you? No!
Many times I've been viewing a used car and spotted some body repairs, and when confronted with the evidence they will usually then admit it.

Funny though how many sellers will offer information about all other new bits (new battery, new tyres, just had cambelt, new alternator just fitted at xx miles etc), but how many say "just had both bumpers replaced"? Surely it's just as valid? confused

I'd say not as they are service items

Depends on who is buying. My brother can spot a microscopic paint chip at 100 miles, whilst I bought a car with obvious paintwork and a few little dings but wasn't fussed (first car, will do lots of miles and more concerned with mechanical condition...it was in good nick)

It's nice to be honest though
