I came from a mk2.5 MX5 and therefore fitted Toyo T1-Rs which have never let me down, but they can let go a little earlier than some might like in the wet. My 3.5 had some different tyres on it from new (that I still have on the front at 28,000 miles) I think they could be Bridgestones. (sorry the car is some 100 miles away at the moment so hard to recall!)

Our MX-5 came shod with OEM Yokohama Advan A11As. Having driven on many brands of tyres these performed really well so we have re-shod both front and rear with the same.

Yoko AD08s' for balls out grip, not so good in the wet

Another vote for Toyo T1-Rs for an all round tyre

Hated Yoko's, too snappy and not confidence inspiring in the wet. Hate the Dunlops I just got rid of, great in the proper wet but bad in typical greasy British winter conditions - this is something I've heard a few say about Toyo too. Currently running my winter tyres but when it's time to replace I'm going for Uniroyal RainSport 2.

Thanks.

It's my other half's car, so not do worried about top performance, more safety and stopping.

Another vote for the toyo's here. I've got them on mine and there a great all round tyre with just the right amount of slip in the wet/damp.

Bridgestone Potenza RE050A on ours. Great grip, really planted in the wet and the 1st set lasted 35k miles - recommended.

+1 driven on these on track, really surprised how much grip there was in the wet. Lasted over 31k miles on a friends' car too (that is largely driven very gently, unless I have a go).

Try the Bridgestone site - then there's an option to 'find a dealer'.
